Lottery players are usually 50 and older. But Generation Y has lost interest. They seek change, they seek something new. The lottery doesn’t offer this.

To reach this tech-savvy target group, relevance needs to be created by brands to survive.

 

That's why the lottery needs to be placed in a context they can relate to, allowing the game to become part of their daily habits. And there is no better way to create relevance than using the most anticipated product of the year, which is designed to become part of our daily lives. By using the Apple Watch we reinvented the game of lottery, allowing the younger audience to experience the game in a completely new way.

Service Design

The Apple Watch is now the beginning of a new era of mobile devices, which connects humans and technology. Our goal was to place the lottery in a setting that is relevant to a younger audience, engaging them to participate and play. The Watch is the most anticipated product of the year and a perfect fit for our idea. That's why we developed the "WestLotto-Simulator" app for iPhone and Watch. The app reads the health data that is provided by the Health app. With the help of a unique algorithm, the app generates personalized lucky numbers based on the retrieved health and fitness data.

Experience Design

Whatever the consumer experiences during the day, it is translated into a number, giving the health and fitness data an added value. The "unBEATable" feature has reinvented the game of lottery for the younger audience. While regular customers can continue to play as they have always done, Generation Y now has the chance to experience playing the lottery in the most personal way ever. This feature opens the lottery to a wider audience that before had no interest. Through the app and the Apple Watch, we will make the lottery more relevant to the younger audience, integrating the game seamlessly into their daily lives.
